Fitzhugh Lee was a man of the old South and joined Confederacy along with his family.

After the Civil War and after the death of his uncle, Fitz not only spoke in his uncle’s place, but also literally and figuratively rode in the saddle of Robert E. Lee.

Before the War with Spain, as Consul General in Havana, Cuba, Fitz worked under former enemies who respected his words and deeds and, in turn, he proved to an entire country the loyalty of an American named General Lee.

The wounds of a once divided nation were healed and the inheritor of uncle Robert’s legacy received a hero’s welcome as our symbol of reunion and redemption.
